HEAT WIN EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP, ADVANCE TO NBA FINALS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2014

Updated: Dec 15, 2022

Miami won the series 4-2. Almost every game was up for grabs as the only blowout win game was game 5. As the Heat did not show up with their normal energy and seemed uncharacteristically lazy and sluggish all game and eventually lost 121-108. Just looking at the score you might believe game 6 was also a blowout but it was a 1-2 possession game until the last 4 minutes of the game.

Similar to the Milwaukee Bucks series the Heat were the underdogs coming into the series and embraced the underdog title once again. In a hard-fought battle, the Heat overcame the Boston Celtics with star play from Jimmy Butler, Goran Dragic, Bam Adebayo, and a "heroic" effort from the young Heat rookie Tyler Herro as he dropped 37 points to help the Heat win game 4. The Heat also got massive production from their role players Duncan Robinson (5-7 from the 3 point line), and Andre Iguodala in game six as he turned back the hands of time and scored 15 points and made 4-4 three-pointers and a dunk.

The Celtics scored 10 of the first 12 points of the fourth and went up 96-90. From there, it was the Heats game to win. The Heat scored 35 of the game's final 52 points. Bam Adebayo took over the game and erupted for 32 points on 11-15 shooting, shot 10-11 from the free-throw line, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out 5 assists, and had a steal. The victory was theirs. So was the silver eastern conference trophy.

When Kemba Walker was asked about regrets he said, "I don't have any, "Walker said. "I don't have any man. I thought we fought hard. A lot of credit to Miami. Those guys are really good."

"Miami deserves a lot of credit," Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said. "They're super physical, super tough, very, very savvy. I think they're the best team in the East and deserve to be representing the East in the way that they have played".

About a year ago the Miami Heat signed Jimmy Butler. Jimmy received a great deal of slander for leaving the Philadelphia 76ers. A team that went to game 7 in the Eastern Conference finals and was a Kawhi buzzer-beater away from advancing and potentially beating a hobbled Golden State Warriors team. Just to join a Miami Heat team that wasn’t even expected to make it to the playoffs. Many media members went as far as to say irrational accusations such as Jimmy is "going to Miami for the beaches and scenery". They even said, "he doesn't want to win, he knows there is no way he can win with the Heat" but they were all gravely mistaken.

Jimmy Butler and the heat have now earned an opportunity to face off against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. Once again, they are the dark horse but this time in the brightest stage imaginable, the NBA finals. The Heat face off against a phenomenal LA Lakers team that was the number one seed in the west and has a two-headed monster in Lebron James and Anthony Davis that cannot seem to be stopped by anyone. The Heat have nobody as good as Lebron James and Anthony Davis but what they do have on their side is depth. Miami is undoubtedly the better overall team. But with the stardom of Lebron and Davis, many believe the Lakeshow will once again be triumphant for the first time since 2010. Particularly with a vengeful Lebron that feels like he was disrespected last year as many NBA fans and media members spreaded a false narrative that Lebron was no longer a top player. Furthermore, he seemed very upset when he was informed that he only got 16 first-place MVP vote this year as opposed to Giannis's 85. However, the Heat have always had a chip on their shoulder and never have been the type that shies away from a challenge. If anything expect this years NBA Finals to be unprecedented must watch tv.
